Under the patronage of His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research, Dr. Naim al-Aboudi, and under the supervision of the president of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif al-Zubaidy, the University hosted the Iraqi universities basketball championship for 3*3 students .
It is noteworthy that the activity was held by the scientific supervision and evaluation apparatus – the Department of student activities for the year 2023-2024 the second semester and hosted by the Middle Euphrates Technical University and supported sixteen public and private universities with the participation of (47) forty-seven public universities, universities and private colleges .
The opening ceremony was attended by the rector, the Scientific Assistant to the Rector, a number of department directors, arbitration committees, heads of delegations and students of participating universities .
The president of the University delivered a speech in which he blessed all attendees with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, welcoming all participating teams
At this special event .
He pointed out that such activities promote the values of friendship and social integration between the competitors, and an opportunity to highlight and appreciate the remarkable efforts of the participating students .
He stressed that the university adopts all activities, whether artistic, sports or literary, and appreciates the efforts of the students participating in them .
He also thanked all the efforts made to make this event possible, from the participating students to the organizing committees and supporters, and thanked the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, without which this achievement would not have been possible, wishing everyone a good participation .
For his part, the representative of the Student Activities Department at the scientific supervision and Evaluation Authority conveyed the greetings of His Excellency the minister; he said: today our happiness was completed by your presence and participation in the launch of the first sports activity within the curriculum of sports activities and competitions within the second semester of 2024, within the activities of the Iraqi public and private universities basketball championship .
He also thanked, praised and appreciated the presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University for hosting this tournament .
All the love, appreciation and respect for all the guests who came with us today to participate in the launch events of the Iraqi universities basketball championship on these blessed Ramadan days .
On my behalf and on behalf of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, I extend to you my sincere words of thanks and gratitude for your presence and we will meet, God willing, in other sports and cultural activities in the future,” he said .
It is noteworthy that the tournament Activities will continue for four consecutive days on the stadium complex at the university presidency, the Kufa site and the closed sports hall, and the competitions will be judged by international and ministerial arbitration committees .
