Strategic Plan for Quality Assurance and University Performance for the next two years

The first axis (improving the quality of education and learning)

The first objective is to develop programs and curricula and to replicate the international curricula adopted by the universities that contribute to the development of students’ skills and knowledge and their ability to meet the needs of the labor market.

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Review the courses in all disciplines, which have been for four years or more, by the scientific committees in the departments to be united in the consultative meeting of the corresponding scientific departments.
  2. Developing the curriculum in accordance with the requirements of the labor market.
  3. Involvement of experts and experts from outside the university in plans for programs and courses for the purpose of evaluation.
  4. To periodically review students’ opinions and measure their satisfaction by designing a standardized form for the scientific departments in the form of a questionnaire and periodically after each semester for the purpose of reviewing and evaluating the performance of the trainees.
  5. Increase students’ effectiveness by encouraging different learning methods and creating self-learning opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills.
  6. Encourage the use of modern techniques in teaching and through e-learning.
  7. To ensure the credibility and accuracy of student assessment methods and procedures, including a review of a sample of the terms and final examinations of the elementary and higher studies students.
  8. Establish an extended workshop for graduates to benefit from them in the development of curricula.
  9. Follow-up rates of completion of the teaching course periodically.
  10. Adopting appropriate scientific methods to evaluate the performance of the higher studies students and supervise them.

 

 

 

Objective 2: Increase the efficiency of personal and professional development of teaching staff

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Prepare an annual plan to train faculty members with a focus on teaching methods, assessment methods, learning technology, communication skills and characterization of courses.
  2. Activating the work of the scientific committee in the scientific sections through its visit to teaching during the course of the lecture to find out the causes of imbalance and stand up and find a solution to it and knowledge of the strengths and encourage and spread to others and the approval of the scientific committee on graduation projects.
  3. Involvement of all teachers, especially those who are newly employed, in courses of teaching methods and design of PowerPoint presentations to develop their skills according to modern teaching methods.
  4. Involvement in training in scientific conferences held inside or outside Iraq and providing payment facilities for them.
  5. To encourage the teachers to complete the requirements of scientific promotions (research) to obtain higher scientific titles.
  6. The establishment and design of a special program for teaching, including scientific activities (research, patents, author books, training courses, workshops, discussion and supervision of postgraduate studies, evaluation of scientific research and attendance of scientific conferences). Updated their data each three months.
  7. Hosting foreign professors to benefit from their scientific expertise through the presentation of their lectures using videoconferencing technology.
  8. Compel all teachers to open an account on the “Research gate” site within the Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical university account for the purpose of raising the classification of our university for other universities.

Goal 3: Improve the sources of education and learning

First: Development of learning resources

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Acquiring colleges or institutes of modern scientific sources in both electronic and paper.
  2. Allocate an annual budget for the development of learning resources in the university in proportion to the number of students admitted and faculty members.
  3. Paying attention to libraries affiliated with colleges and institutes and conducting periodic evaluation of the efficiency of their administration.

Second: Developing the services of printed and electronic learning resources in libraries

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Develop a library system for lending, recovery and follow-up services.
  2. Establish a mechanism for continuous evaluation of information services.
  3. Evaluate the performance of library workers, especially IT skills.
  4. To find a kind of partnership in the universities of the global universities.

Fourth Objective: To take care of the needs of the students and their involvement in the process of improving the quality of education

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Preparation of leaflets that contribute to highlighting students’ activities and their scientific and cultural hobbies.
  2. Support activities that promote the development of technical and social skills and students.
  3. Survey students’ views on teaching methods and curricula through documented questionnaires prepared for this purpose.

The second axis (continuous improvement of quality system)

The first objective is to develop the internal quality assurance system continuously

Implementation mechanism:

  1. Involving the cadres of the quality assurance and university performance department at the university and the division of quality assurance in the faculties and institutes in the specialized courses in the field of quality and internal auditing.
  2. Involving cadres of the department of quality assurance and university performance at the university and the division of quality assurance in colleges and institutes workshops and seminars specialized in quality systems and reliability.
  3. Participate in local, Arab and international conferences to see the latest achievements in the field of quality.

The second objective is to spread the culture of quality

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Provide proofs and manuals to introduce quality, university performance and academic accreditation.
  2. Organizing seminars, workshops and training courses on the quality of education and academic accreditation.
  3. Organizing educational and awareness lectures in the field of quality and academic accreditation for university employees, colleges and institutes.
  4. Include lectures on quality within the teaching methods of newly appointed professors.
  5. Establishment of an international scientific conference to be held in 2019 after receiving the approval of the president of the university under the title (Quality in technical education)

The third objective: continuous evaluation of academic performance and follow-up of quality improvement processes.

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Establish a clear self-assessment mechanism.
  2. Conduct a developmental review or an informal external evaluation of the University’s programs to determine the levels
  3. Conducting a questionnaire for employers’ views on the university’s outputs annually.
  4. Provide a database on graduates and provide opportunities for feedback from them through:
  5. Establishment of a graduate unit that means graduates and documents their activities and within the university website system.
  6. Preparing an annual guide for the college or institute that includes information about (scientific departments, teaching staff, technical staff, administrative staff, divisions and units, administrative structure, numbers of students, subjects, units and educational laboratories).
  7. The establishment of a specific mechanism that is conducted annually to identify and monitor the number of graduate students who have been accepted to complete their primary and higher education to be one of the most important indicators of the quality of the university.

Strategic Objective 4: To support and encourage innovation and excellence in quality

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Honoring the scientific departments that obtained the top three grades in the evaluation of the performance of the classification of the quality of Iraqi universities with the shield of creativity and excellence in the field of quality and a certificate of appreciation from the University.
  2. Honoring the first educational labs of each specialty, which meets the standards of the good laboratory from among the laboratories annually for the purpose of honoring him with the shield of creativity and excellence in the field of quality and a certificate of appreciation from the university.

Strategic Objective V: Access to Academic Accreditation

Mechanism of Implementation:

Establish a medium term plan for a period of three years 2017-2020 to achieve the requirements of reliability and seek to obtain them and form a committee whose tasks will be the preparation of an integrated plan and the mechanisms of implementation.

The third axis (improving the quality of scientific research)

The first objective: To identify and support excellence in scientific research of high quality

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Establish a database of scientific research activities at the university and issue an annual report on research publications (coordination with scientific affairs in this regard)
  2. Encouraging and assisting researchers in the International Journals (IF) or ISI or Scopus by granting them (thanks and appreciation from the President of the University and financial reward). Both of (Thomson Routers and Scopus) thanks and appreciation from the President of the University’s Honor only.
  3. Encouraging the researchers who have obtained the patents of invention by giving them the thanks and appreciation of the President of the University in addition to a financial reward.
  4. Encouraging researchers who have written a scientific book by giving them thanks from the President of the University in addition to a financial reward.
  5. Adopting an information system for verification and detection of scientific similarity (Plagiarism).
  6. Follow-up of the trainees who have not changed their scientific status despite the passing of the legal period by their deans.

Second Objective: To encourage and develop the research environment and develop human resources related to scientific research

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Taking care of the letters and projects of the students of primary and higher studies and enhancing their quality by issuing an order to compel doctoral students to publish two articles in a magazine classified as Scopus and Masters students with at least one research in a magazine classified as Scopus. Whether the primary academic students gaining excellency in their project only if it publishes a scientific research in any Iraqi magazine.
  2. Supporting the establishment of seminars, workshops and specialized conferences that contribute to the process of enriching scientific research.
  3. Establishing research centers and units and engaging the creative teachers and students in these centers.
  4. Trying to find a partnership between our university and international or Arab universities and research institutions.
  5. Organizing training programs for the development of research skills among teachers and researchers.

The fourth axis (support and evaluation of educational laboratories)

  1. Establish committees for the quality of laboratories in colleges and institutes.
  2. To prepare the requirements and requirements of the good educational laboratory of equipment and others according to the ministry’s instructions in this regard.
  3. Application of Good Laboratory Standards (GLP)
  4. To involve laboratory officials in training courses related to laboratory specialization and quality training courses.
  5. Managing the teaching labs by the teaching staff and issuing an order to the laboratory quality representative in the scientific department.
  6. Involvement of laboratory personnel in workshops related to the quality of educational laboratories according to the local standard (GLP).
  7. Establish a guide for educational laboratories.
  8. Labeling of laboratory equipment in all our educational laboratories according to the ministry’s latest instructions.

The fifth axis (support and development of improving the relationship with society)

First Objective: Supporting and developing society

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Encouraging the participation of faculty members in the community service programs through the provision of training courses and professional consultations in all disciplines and studies.
  2. Providing the opportunity for community members to benefit from the University’s facilities and various sources such as library stadiums and gymnasiums.
  3. Establish joint training programs with governmental and civil institutions.

Goal 2: Training Courses

Mechanism of Implementation:

  1. Intensify efforts to hold seminars, workshops and training courses aimed at rehabilitating public and private sector employees.
  2. Document the relationship between colleges and institutions of the state or the private sector in order to activate training programs for students in these institutions.
