Karbala Technical Institute was founded in 1988 by the Technical Education Authority established in 1969. In 2014, the Institute became a member of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University (ATU). The Institute awards a three-year technical diploma to its graduates based on two full academic years and a year parallel to the summer training session. Mechanical Techniques, Electrical Techniques, Civil Techniques, Accounting Techniques, Office Administration Techniques, Computer Systems Technology, Tourism Techniques, and Community Health Techniques are the eight scientific schools. The Institute is located on the Karbala-Babylon route in western Jadual, 13 kilometers east of the Karbala Governorate.
