Within the approach of openness and communication with Iraqi, Arab and international universities, the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffer Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, signed a memorandum of scientific and cultural understanding with the University of Mosul, in the presence of its President, Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamal-Ahmady, and the advanced staff of the University.

At the beginning of the signing ceremony, Al-Zuhairy said that the signing of the memorandum of understanding was in line with the Ministry’s policy of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to find a genuine and effective twin among public universities in order to achieve their highness and elevation at the Arab and international levels.

In addition, Al-Zuhairy pointed out that Mosul University is a great title among universities with its great achievements over its long history. The University has graduated thousands of engineers, doctors, literature and scientists in various disciplines who have made clear contributions to Iraqi society. In the same vein, Al-Zuhairy noted that he was proud to be one of the university’s graduates given in the early 1980s.

In his statement, the president of Mosul University gave an overview of the University’s disciplines and recent scientific achievements, as well as the reconstruction and rehabilitation projects implemented from 2014 to our current time, which contributed to the restoration of the University’s life, especially as they were subjected to mass destruction during the events of 2014.

The memorandum of understanding addressed the possibility of exchanging scientific expertise through the exchange of professors for research, scientific meetings, lectures and discussion of letters and theses, as well as support for scientific projects and training programmes.
The memorandum also included cooperation in the development of curricula in the parties’ respective sections.

The memorandum emphasized the strengthening of cooperation in the field of authorship and dissemination of joint scientific research in sober journals within the international scientific estates, in addition to attending conferences, seminars, workshops, scientific and cultural competitions and participating in scientific activities and events organized by the parties.

The memorandum’s signing ceremony was also marked by the screening of a documentary film for both universities containing the most important achievements.

The visiting delegation included Vice president for Scientific and Administration Affairs and Dean of the Technical Institute of Najaf and a number of directors of the relevant departments. The signature proceedings were attended by Mosul University Associates and a number of deans of colleges and specialists.

On the other hand, the President of Mosul University accompaniedthe President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and his delegation were also escorted on a field tour. Al-Zuhairy, for his part, learned about the university’s milestones after the reconstruction campaign of Mosul University, which was completely destroyed in 2014, which included the International English Language Testing Centre, the Central Library and the University’s Grand Theatre He concluded his visit to the Faculty of Engineering and Workshops recalling his preliminary and senior studies in the Department of Civil Engineering.
