In response to the kind invitation from Warith Foundation for Technical Education affiliated to the General Secretariat of the Holy Husseiniya Threshold .. Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University participated in the first forum for technical education, which was attended by the Secretary-General of the Holy Husseiniya Threshold, the Advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and a number of presidents of technical universities in the center and the region, and a number of professors and experts in technical education.

For its part, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University participated with a high-level delegation headed by Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, President of the University, and the deans of the Technical Institute of Karbala and the Technical Institute of Babylon, the Director of the Scientific Affairs Department at the University Presidency, the Director of the Office of the University President, and a number of heads of departments.

The forum included a presentation of a number of papers from the participating universities that covered the topics related to technical education.

Al-Zuhairy, in his opening speech for the paper presented by the university, which focused on the importance of technical education and its role in providing the labor market with skilled staff. He also expressed his thanks and gratitude to the General Secretariat of the Holy Husseiniya Threshold for adopting the establishment of this forum, as this indicates awareness and realization of the importance of this type of education in pushing the wheel of the economy in the country forward.

He also pointed out in another aspect of his speech to the challenges facing technical education, reviewing some of the global experiences that confirm the interest of the major industrial countries in this type of education and making it at the top of their priorities.

He also pointed out that the technical and academic universities bear a great responsibility in creating positive change in society and in all aspects of life, as they possess minds and competencies of professors and a wide segment of students who represent a wide spectrum of society.

He explained that despite all the challenges, there are success stories recorded by the technical universities and with their own capabilities.

The director of the scientific affairs department at the university presidency, Prof. Ali Abdul Hussein Al-Dhalmi, who participated in presenting the university’s paper, gave a brief historical presentation of technical education in Iraq since 1969 until 2023, reinforcing the presentation with numbers and data, indicating the challenges facing technical education and the proposed solutions, as well as the success stories achieved in Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University in relation to building partnerships with the labor market through the Industrial Advisory Council and activating the role of the Rehabilitation and Employment Departments in providing graduates with soft skills and updating the curricula to keep pace with and meet the requirements of the labor market.
