Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and under the supervision of the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, the University Festival of Fine Arts for Iraqi university students has concluded.

It is worth mentioning that the festival is an integral part of the scientific supervision and evaluation system at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – Department of Student Activities for the academic year 2023-2024, first semester. The festival was hosted by Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, with the support of nine government and private universities, and the participation of 45 government and private universities and colleges.

The closing ceremony was attended by the President of the University, the Vice President for Administration Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Majtoumi,several department directors, heads of delegations, and participating university students, as well as a large crowd of staff and students.

The ceremony included a film presentation showcasing the highlights of the festival, followed by a speech from the representative of the ministry, expressing gratitude and high appreciation to the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, the hosting universities, and all those involved in the organizing and preparatory committees for their efforts in the success of the festival.

In his speech, the President of the University expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency the Minister, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, for his significant support to the universities in all aspects of their work, which enhances the reputation of higher education in various forums. He emphasized the importance of student activities, which are as important as other aspects of university work, and highlighted the university’s commitment to creating an attractive educational environment that supports and encourages students’ artistic, sports, cultural, and academic talents.

The festival activities lasted for four consecutive days and included a preparatory meeting, an opening ceremony, an exhibition of the participating universities’ products, individual and group competitions. The competitions were judged by a specialized ministerial artistic and technical committee, and the results were announced at the closing ceremony. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of appreciation awards to the winning universities and outstanding students in the festival.
