The president of Al-Fourt Al-Awsat Technical University, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, participated in the workshop held by the Parliamentary Education Committee in the Iraqi Council of Representatives on the draft law of the Ninth Amendment to the Ministry of higher education and scientific research Law No. 40 of 1988.

The workshop was attended by the undersecretary of the Ministry of education for Scientific Research Affairs, the chairman of the Education Development Committee in the Prime Minister’s office, a number of university presidents and advanced cadres in the ministry ،
The attendees enriched the workshop with their scientific and legal proposals and important aspects of the law .

During his intervention at the workshop, the president of the University pointed out the importance of technical education and its effective role in pushing the economy in the country forward, and the need to strengthen the full independence of technical universities in dealing with the needs of the labor market, according to the requirements and conditions of the geographical area covered by each university .

He also pointed out that there is no need to find other entities that act as an umbrella for technical universities, as this weakens the strength of those universities and negatively affects their position among their academic counterparts .

He stressed the need for joint communication and coordination between technical universities regarding the participants, through periodic meetings held from time to time whenever the need arises .

In another aspect of his speech, Al-Zuhairy stressed the need to provide the necessary funding for technical modernization and improvement of the infrastructure of educational institutions, including updating the technology, hardware and software necessary to enhance technical education, as well as providing vocational guidance and counseling programs for students to help them choose their technical paths and absorb the job opportunities available in the market .

The University’s assistant president for administrative and Financial Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Mohsen Al-Majtoumi, participated in the workshop, during which he presented the University’s observations on the draft law in question .
