In the context of the efforts of the presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University to build real partnerships with universities, both internationally and locally, and to contribute to enhancing the reputation of the university locally and globally, Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, the President of the University, met the President of Sharif University of Technology, Iranian delegation, and the Iranian consul in the holy province of Najaf to enhance the prospects of cooperation between the two sides.
During the visit, a joint meeting was held with Dr. Rasoul Jalili, the President of Sharif University of Technology, and the advanced staff at the university, to discuss the prospects and areas of joint cooperation with the aim of crystallizing them into a scientific and cultural memorandum of understanding, which will be agreed upon later.
Al-Zuhairy presented an overview of the university and its formations, and pointed out in his speech to a number of areas of common interest, including the exchange of experiences among peers in scientific departments, joint supervision of graduate students, hosting professors from both universities, as well as organizing joint scientific and cultural activities, including conferences, workshops, and exhibitions, and benefitting from the laboratories in both universities to conduct research.
For his part, Dr. Jalili, the President of Sharif University of Technology, expressed his full readiness to open up and cooperate in the aforementioned areas.
The President of Sharif University of Technology praised the progress achieved by Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University in the scientific field and the advancement of the university environment. He expressed his hopes that cooperation will be carried out in various areas agreed upon during this meeting. Finally, he expressed his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Al-Zuhairy for his warm reception and hospitality, and wishing the university and its formations more success and progress.
It is worth noting that the visit of the Iranian delegation to Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University comes within a series of visits made by the delegation to a number of Iraqi universities, including Baghdad, Technology, and Al Kufa universities, with the aim of opening up prospects for cooperation.
