A promising Humanitarian Initiative embodies the University’s concept of community service … The head of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, supervised the gifting of a number of people with disabilities and special needs prosthetic limbs manufactured by students and with their own capabilities in the workshops of the Department of limb and support manufacturing techniques at the Kufa Technical Institute in the presence of the assistant to the head of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ghanem, dean of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Fadel Sami Zagheir, chairman of the limb and support manufacturing committee at the Ministry of Health, Prof. Raad Hashem, Dr. Mufeed Azhar Abu Ghoneim, representative of the Najaf health department and a number of associates and students in the said department .
Al-Zuhairy in his speech: the presidency of the university adopted the development of this promising specialty at the Kufa Technical Institute to contribute to the preparation of promising technical cadres with a high level of skill that have the ability to qualify this category of society, and for the university to be a scientific and humanitarian Radiation Center for society and to provide a technical educational environment that stimulates education and creativity and contributes to the preparation of graduates with high efficiency as well as achieving partnership with the sectors of society and private and mixed sector institutions related to scientific and humanitarian activities and provide services and consultations to solve the problems of the labor market and develop its programs .
It should be noted that the Department of limb and armrest manufacturing techniques was introduced in the academic year 2018-2019 to meet the requirements of this important and broad segment, especially in light of the legacy of the horrors of wars and terrorism that the country has suffered for long periods, resulting in a large number of people with disabilities .
In the speech of the dean of the Technical Institute, the following statement was made : today, after the support that the department received from the esteemed head of the University, material and moral support deserves thanks and gratitude, and what we in the Deanship of the institute were able to provide, despite the lack of financial allocations, we were able, thank God, to complete prosthetics for ten cases of disabled and people with special needs in the manufacturing workshops and completely in its four parts (mold casting workshop, sculpture workshop, assembly workshop and rehabilitation Hall ) .
In order to achieve our desired goal of serving the community, we announced at the beginning of the academic year 2023 a qualitative initiative represented in receiving cases of patients with disabilities to equip them with artificial limbs in the Department’s workshops and by its students and free of charge .
.And today we are completing this work to conclude a school year with a desire to draw a smile on the face of those who need it most .
At the end of the ceremony, the head of the University expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Deanship of the Institute and the staff and students of the Department for their good efforts to make this wonderful humanitarian initiative a success, stressing the provision of all means of material and moral support required .
