In conjunction with Altinbash University and Al-Mustaqbal University College, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University in Istanbul organized its first international scientific conference to accomplish the objectives of sustainable development SDGs from June 6 to 7, 2022.
Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, chancellor of ATU University, attended the start ceremony, as did Prof. Ali Arakun, President of Turkish Altinbash University, and Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College. Many professors and researchers from the three institutions and a group of Iraqi postgraduate students studying at Turkish universities attended the event.
On occasion, Al-Zuhairy made a speech in which he emphasized the significance of scientific research in overcoming the issues confronting the world in general and Iraq in particular, particularly the issue of sustainability. He also highlighted the ATU University initiatives related to sustainable development. These include green transportation on campus, increased green spaces, the use of solar panels, and the use of intelligent equipment in rationalizing water and electric energy consumption, as well as applied scientific research in the fields of water treatment, wastewater, air pollution control, water resource management, and research on alternative and renewable energies. He stated that over 200 scientific research manuscripts were submitted to the conference, with 123 being approved following assessment and evaluation.
The Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College, for his part, presented a short presentation on the college’s most significant accomplishments in terms of sustainable growth. A keynote speaker from Altinbash University in Turkey presented a working paper, while a speaker from the National University of Malaysia presented one on renewable energy. Attendees discussed and made remarks on the presented documents throughout the session.
