A research team from the Technical Institute of Babylon and in collaboration with another from the University of Basra registered a patent entitled preparation and evaluation of polymeric compound of chitosan and pectin uploaded with antibiotics in treatment of gastric ulcer caused by Helicobacter pylori in vitro and in vivo as an embodiment of the methodology of scientific research cooperation pursued by Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, and based on the principle of sharing scientific experiences.
The patent was filed with the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, allowing them to create and analyze the alloy in treating peptic ulcers.
ATU University was represented by the head of the Department of Community Health Technologies, Assistant Prof. Dr. Israa Abdel Ali Hassan Al-Hawani, who stated that the research team was able to produce the ingot and load it with the antibiotics amoxicillin and clarithromycin for use in treating laboratory mice infected with Helicobacter pylori.
