against women, the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the university organized an awareness-raising cultural symposium entitled Electronic extortion and user protection in cooperation with the community police in Najaf Governorate and the Independent Shams Organization for Women. The symposium, which was attended by the chancellor of the University, Prof. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, dealt with the legal and social repercussions of the crime of extortion. The symposium aims to introduce the participants to the concept of electronic blackmail, its risks, and causes and urge them to raise social and legal awareness regarding social responsibility and understanding of electronic blackmail. The symposium stressed the need to report extortion cases and not respond to threats by calling the community police hotline 497.
